And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
Most of us call today Easter. Some call it Resurrection Day. Either way it is the day set aside to remember that Jesus is not dead. He rose from the grave and is alive. And when he came forth from the grave he came forth with power to heal and to save.
He also came forth with a message for his followers. He told them to go and tell the world what he had taught them. There are still many who are out going into places where the gospel is not being preached. They are still doing what Jesus told them to do.
Then there are some who have been blessed to find a place where the truth is already being preached. Most times that is a church. Church members still go out into the world but on Sundays (and often Wednesdays) we come out from the world and come to church. Most of our efforts are directed at inviting people to come to church and hear the truth.
Some of you may be here today because someone invited you to come to church with them on Easter Sunday. Others of you may have seen the sign about our special service. That is still an invitation. In either case we are glad that you are here with us today to remember Jesus Christ our savior.
The truth is, however, that the real invitation that is being made to you today involves a lot more than coming to church. We do want you to come to church but that is not our ultimate goal because unfortunately many people have spent their lives in church only to reach the end and find out they missed heaven.
Our ultimate goal is to invite you to a far better place than this church. We want to invite you to find Jesus so that when this life is over you may come with us to heaven. That was what the bride was commanded to do. Our job is to tell you about the living waters that wash away sin and invite you to take a drink. If you have not tasted those waters our invitation to you is come and do not delay. Come today while there is time and opportunity because they may never come again.
After all there would be no better way to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus than for you to find a new life of your own. Won’t you come?
The Prayer Bells will be working to help families staying at the Ronald McDonald house. These families have children who are very ill. Please take advantage of this opportunity to show Christian sympathy to those going through a hard time. If you did not get an insert last week there are still some in the vestibule
