What Are You Counting?

The month of January has been one of the coldest I remember. We have also gotten far more snow than normal. During seasons like this we often begin to question the Lord. Why so cold? Why so much snow? We have even had to cancel church.

This is not the only thing we question the Lord about though. We see sickness around us. Families are struggling. Our lost people do not seem to have concern for their souls.

All of these problems make it easy for us to become depressed and make us want to give up. During times like these, however, it is good for us to remember all the things God has done and is doing for us.

If we have been saved that is a great blessing for us. If our family has been saved we are blessed. We have a church to come to. We have a portion of health if not everything we would like.

After you take a look at your blessings take a look around you. How many people do you know who have not been saved, who have no hope in the life to come. When we are trapped in our homes because of the weather think of all the people who cannot get out even in good weather, the shut-ins and those in nursing homes. When someone we know is sick remember how many are burying their loved ones today. The comparisons could go on and on. When the days are hard for us remember they are probably harder for someone else.

It is also important to remember this is the day the Lord has made. We may not be having the best day of our lives but we are living. The world is still going on. While the world goes on and we are in it we have hope that we can see God move in our lives, our families, our churches and our countries. There is hope that someone might be saved today, maybe even someone dear to your heart.

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
