You hear people say it all the time, “Everything happens for a reason.” Usually it is after something bad has happened. Some people attribute it to fate but even Christians say it. The Christians seem to be implying that whatever has happened God caused it to happen. They have made God the reason things happen.
While the Bible certainly does teach that God is all powerful and could control the result of every situation it no where says that it does. So does everything happen for a reason or not? Of course it does. We live in a world of cause and effect.
For example if you get drunk and crash your car into a tree. It happened for a reason. If you have end up pregnant before you get married it happened for a reason. If you get a girl pregnant before you get married it happened for a reason. God is not the reason though. You are! You made a decision to do something and as a result something happened.
It is time we quit blaming God (or fate or anything else) for everything that happens in our life. Does God intervene? Certainly he does. Has he put people in bad situations before? Yes he has. But before we go blaming God for what is happening in our life let’s look in the mirror. Take some responsibility! More often then not what happens in our life today is a result of the decisions we made yesterday.
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
